Canada...beauty, eh?

Here we have cpf2 at his birthday party posing with what I imagine is the first of many late-night-before assemblies. It was a great day for him - many nice visitors, Pooh decorations, presents, and a Ukrainian delicacy, yummy homemade cupcakes (sorry, inside joke). Then that night he went to Chandler's on Lake Union for Alaskan King Crab Legs. Awww yeahhhh.

The party was on Sunday, but his actual birthday was on the previous Wednesday. That night he got to go pick out some new books the he went to his favorite Seattle Mexican restaurant, Jalisco. The ladies there are always so lovely and they just adore Christopher. When they found out it was his birthday, they got the guitarist to come over and they sang him a beautiful Mexican ballad and then "Happy Birthday" in spanish. It really was special. Oh, and he got to wear his first sombrero. (Like a dear friend once said, "What fun is life if you don't get to wear a sombrero?")

Last December

This December

Wow. That's all you can say. Well, that and "Happy Birthday!" What a great kid.

This is what I want, and this is how I want it...

Santa and cpf2...yeah, they're tight. It does look, however, like Christopher isn't cutting the bearded one any slack.

So, after leaving the cookies and cocoa pow-wow with Santa, we went over to a local diner in North Bend for some really good cherry pie. Then, as we were leaving town, we bought this huge, beautiful, home-made wreath out of the back of a pick-up for $10. (That would be $40 anywhere else!) Big cities certainly have a lot to offer, but you'll never have days like this one in them.

This past Sunday Stacy, Christopher, and I drove down to North Bend to ride a circa 1915 train over to Snoqualmie so Christopher could visit Santa at the depot (shown).

Well of course, it's December now so naturally it must snow. CPF2 hasn't really experienced the frozen stuff before. He's seen it before, but still being less than a year old, last winter isn't going to hold tightly in his memory. His expressions watching the big flakes fall are pretty special; not to mention that he's stylin' in that winter-wear.

Seattle is a real outdoors sort of place, so bicycles literally clog traffic everywhere. Along with this popularity, those with small children have to use bike trailers in order to continue this activity. Well, we already had the bikes and decided we'd better start using them or skiing this winter would thoroughly kill us. REI was having a big sale so we "acquired" a chariot for the little guy (and friends). Here he is after his first trip around the neighborhood. It was the best nap he took all week.
